Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission's endorsement of Rep. Greg Steube's Myakka Wild and Scenic River Act underscores that key State stakeholders understand and embrace the benefits of Federal Partnership Wild and Scenic River designation.

Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission is Florida's state agency responsible for managing Florida's fish and wildlife resources and enforcing related laws. Their letter of support for Rep. Steube's H.R 642 lauded the addition of a Federal partner to the management of the Myakka River in Sarasota County, which is currently managed as a State-designated Wild and Scenic River. And it acknowledged the game-changing benefits that this new partnership, with associated Federal support, would bring to Myakka River in Sarasota County, an outstanding, unique ecological, fish, and wildlife area.

In social media posts, Congressman Steube thanked the commission for their support.  "This legislation will help enhance the Myakka River in Sarasota County as a natural treasure for future generations!" he noted and added "It would be a huge win for Florida’s Suncoast! Let’s get it passed."
